Alice Babs a legendary Swedish vocalist, her recordings span over six decades. A year after her debut in 1939, the sixteen-year-old Alice gained enormous national exposure and popularity through a hit movie “Swing’it Magistern”. She emerged into the international scene in 1949 at the Paris Jazz Festival, and in 1963 she recorded the first LP with Duke Ellington, “Serenade in Sweden”. That LP came to mark the start of a lifelong working relationship with “The Duke” employing her frequently as guest artist and even composing tunes especially for her to sing. She has continued to record, her most recent CD (2001) including a never previously recorded song given to her from the composer, the legendary jazzpianist John Lewis. This CD offers a rich sample of her contributions in the 40´s. It should become apparent why her happiness, spirit and unique musicianship has made her so dearly loved and appreciated.

”Det här är inte bara årets svenska jazz-CD utan tveklöst en av tidernas bästa svenska jazzskivor”  Lars Landström
